We are a team of change-makers who believe that together, with keenness in learning and sharing, can transform the power sector through enterprise and professionalism.
Power is one of the essential commodities for economic growth, development and livelihood of the people. Power sector is a critical sector instrumental to the progress of the country. It contributes to both ease of business and ease of living.
Distribution is the most conspicuous link in the entire power sector value chain. Being the interface between utilities and consumers, it is apparently the cash register for the entire sector. Under the Indian Constitution, power is a Concurrent subject and the responsibility for distribution and supply of power to all consumers rests with the states. Government of India provides assistance to states through various Central Sector / centrally sponsored schemes for improving the distribution sector.
The distribution segment is saddled with political and social commitments as are adopted by the state governments. The functioning of the power segments is under Regulatory regime and makes very little margin for professional management. The management of this segment calls for adequacies in social, technical, economic and political management skills.
The distribution sector needs contemporary knowledge partners to be associated and guide it to fulfil the techno – commercial objectives like reduction of losses, optimizing revenue, purposeful system upgrades, enhancing the customer satisfaction, up grades of skill sets of stake holders to match the altered business compulsions on a sustainable basis.
The state government also needs purposeful intervention by a professional institution for periodical analytics, feedbacks and evolving strategies to mitigate the dynamic pains in the segment continuously.
The Karnataka Power Engineers Academy is a budding institution to meet these aspirations. The substance of the Academy is the potential knowledge bank through the power engineers working / worked in state power segment.
The KPEA is mettled strongly and is the hope of the future to meet the desires of the power segment in particular and the state government in general. . The ultimate goal is to enable transforming the power sector to a professional institution
Main objectives of the Academy
To promote and encourage Science, Technology and Literature by organizing workshops and seminars for public and engineers.
To organize Exhibitions, Publication of Magazines and Technical Literatures.
To impart skills for teaching, training, technology upgrades, project monitoring management and other allied services to the members.
To establish and maintain Library and Reading Room.
To enter into techno commercial affiliation on reciprocal arrangements with other contemporary renowned Academies/ Associations/ Clubs of similar standing both in India and Abroad.
To create advanced professionally equipped groups to offer services to the power segment on par with global standards through members
